Linoleum Blockprints by Leni Fried

This linoleum block print was made on the island of Culebra, a small quiet place just off of Puerto Rico. We stayed at the perfect guest house, Culebra Island Villas where the drawing for this print was produced. This was my first attempt to try and capture the colors of the transparent turquoise Caribbean waters along with the soft rolling hills and brightly colored houses tucked away in this island sanctuary.
There were few cars on the island.The people were very friendly and always waved or slowed down to offer a ride. We enjoyed the short walk to town where chickens still crossed the road and the pace of life slowed to a pause that seemed to go on forever.
