Monoprints by Leni Fried

This one-of-a-kind print was inspired by an all too short visit to the island of Carriacou. This island is the farthest south I have ever been. It is just 100 miles north of Venezuela off of the island of Grenada. To get there is quite a journey. We stayed in a lovely guesthouse called Bayaleau Point Cottages, where we were treated with homemade bread, excellent boat rides to secluded snorkeling spots and great company. We were walking distance from the small town of Windward where native people still make wooden fishing boats by hand. The houses in Windward were all unique. They are famous for their elaborately hand carved gingerbread. And most are painted in the brilliant colors characteristic of the Caribbean.
