Leni graduated from Pratt
Institute in 1980, where she
specialized in Printmaking
and studied intensively with
Clare Romano. It was at this
time that she began developing
her unique monoprint
technique. This technique
uses many separate cutouts
as ‘plates’ to make a series
of related images. Leni works
in many different printmaking
mediums and does not
hesitate to combine them. In
1997, she began making
linoleum block prints in order
to have a medium she could
do while traveling. Linocut
plates do not need a press in
order to print them.
Leni has been making
original prints for over 20
years. Her work is included
in many prestigious museum
collections in the U.S.,
including The Museum of
Modern art and The Library
of Congress.
She lives in the Northampton
area just 2 hours west of
Boston and 3 1/2 hours from
N.Y.C. This series of 20
images are from her recent
travels in the Caribbean.
